Indigenous Opportunity - Engineer in Training
- Location: Calgary, Alberta, Canada
The Role:
We’re looking for a Junior Mechanical Engineer to join our team! In this role, you’ll focus primarily on pipeline systems, with plenty of opportunities to branch out into areas like rotating equipment, stress analysis, and other specialties. We’re excited to welcome someone who is passionate about learning and contributing to the energy and industrial sectors, while making a real difference in the projects we deliver.
What You’ll Do:
- Create detailed 3D layouts, engineering drawings, and P&IDs (Process and Instrumentation Diagrams).
- Put together mechanical equipment lists and help with material selection for projects.
- Prepare vendor RFQ documentation and other important engineering documents.
- Work closely with our engineers, project managers, and clients to come up with solutions, troubleshoot, and ensure the success of projects.
- Provide technical support to our field teams when needed.
What We’re Looking For:
- Education: A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Experience: Ideally, 2-4 years of experience in engineering design, especially in the midstream or downstream oil and gas industries. But if you're passionate and have the right attitude, we’re open to seeing how your experience fits.
- Registration: You should be an E.I.T. (Engineer-in-Training) with EGBC or APEGA.
- Knowledge: Familiarity with codes like ASME B31.3, API/ASME standards, and CSA Z662 would be a plus. We’re looking for someone who’s comfortable with mechanical equipment and piping design.
- Cultural Understanding: If you have experience working with or within Indigenous communities, we’d love to hear from you! We value diversity and encourage Indigenous candidates to apply.
Skills That Will Help You Succeed:
- Project Experience: If you’ve worked on small, medium, or large projects, that’s great! Experience with phase-gated processes will also be beneficial.
- Teamwork: We’re a collaborative bunch, so being a strong communicator who works well with others is key.
- Tech-Savvy: We use tools like Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project, Primavera P6, SharePoint, and Bluebeam. If you’re familiar with these or similar software, you’ll fit right in.
Why You’ll Love Working Here:
- Inclusive Culture: We believe in building a workplace where everyone feels respected and valued. At Lauren, we take pride in fostering an environment that supports people from all backgrounds, especially Indigenous communities.
- Work-Life Balance: We get it—life is about more than just work. We offer flexibility and a strong focus on maintaining a healthy balance.
- Mentorship & Growth: We’re invested in your development. You’ll have access to mentorship opportunities and the chance to grow in your career at a pace that works for you.
- Make an Impact: Your work will directly contribute to projects that matter to local communities, and we’re committed to making a positive difference.
How to Apply:
If you’re passionate about engineering and excited to join a team that’s focused on collaboration, diversity, and positive impact, we’d love to hear from you. At Lauren, we welcome all applicants, and we’re especially excited to hear from Indigenous candidates who bring unique perspectives to the table.
Lauren Services is proud to be an equal opportunity employer. We are dedicated to creating an inclusive and welcoming environment for all employees.
This position can be worked out of our Calgary, Kelowna or Vancouver Office.
