Pipeline Mapper (Designer)

Lauren Services is seeking a detail-driven Pipeline Mapper (Designer) to join our team. If you're someone who loves working with spatial data, translating routing details into clean, usable maps, and collaborating with project teams to support real-world construction, this might be your next role.

This position is responsible for creating accurate, professional pipeline mapping deliverables using ArcGIS, AutoCAD Civil 3D, and Skyline. The successful candidate will support engineering and construction planning by managing geospatial data and developing high-quality maps, alignment sheets, and other related documents.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Produce detailed alignment sheets, route maps, KMZ files, HDD and crossing drawings using Skyline, ArcGIS, and AutoCAD Civil 3D.
  • Organize and manage spatial and geodatabase information for routing and engineering purposes.
  • Collaborate with engineers, designers, and project managers to ensure mapping deliverables align with project goals and timelines.
  • Support drafting activities including P&IDs, plot plans, civil/structural layouts, and crossing packages.
  • Conduct QA/QC checks on drawings and mapping files to maintain compliance with standards.
  • Develop templates, workflows, and mapping standards to ensure consistency and efficiency across projects.

QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • 8+ years of experience in GIS, pipeline mapping, or drafting, preferably in oil & gas.
  • Technical diploma in drafting/design, GIS, or a related discipline. CET certification or equivalent preferred.
  • Experience supporting large-scale pipeline projects (30 km+ is a plus).

SKILLS

  • Proficiency in ArcGIS (ArcPro, ArcMap, ArcCatalog), AutoCAD Civil 3D, and Skyline.
  • Strong drafting skills and map design sensibility.
  • Skilled in organizing large datasets and managing geospatial information efficiently.

KNOWLEDGE

  • Strong working knowledge of coordinate systems, datums, projections, and geodatabase management.
  • Familiarity with pipeline construction workflows and deliverables.
  • Knowledge of industry standards such as PODS, linear referencing is an asset.

ABILITIES

  • Highly organized and self-directed with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to mentor or train others on GIS tools and alignment sheet creation (nice to have).
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and within a team environment.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

  • Certifications in Skyline or Civil 3D are considered an asset.
  • This role plays a critical part in ensuring mapping accuracy and supporting overall project success.
