Apprenticeship Opportunities

We’re looking to hire a mechanic apprentice who is eager to learn and develop their automotive skillset. In this role, you’ll work under the supervision of one of our journeyman mechanics. They’ll instruct you and give you tasks to complete each day that center around the repair and maintenance of our customers’ vehicles.
You will learn how to perform vehicle inspections, make basic repairs, order parts, and maintain inventory. You will also get experience with performing various maintenance and repair tasks on commercial light duty commercial trucks and trailers and occasionally cars and SUVs. For example, you’ll help with the preventative maintenance activities, replacement of faulty parts, engine repairs, and resolving problems in vehicles’ electrical systems.
To do well in this position, you will need to be dedicated to improving your skill set and capable of learning on the job. It would be beneficial if you were good with your hands and already had some familiarity with basic automotive repair and maintenance tasks. High functioning computer skills are also required as our work-order management is online.

Mechanic Apprentice Responsibilities:
Perform basic repairs under the guidance of a supervisor.
Follow the instructions given to you by your supervisor.
Perform routine maintenance tasks like oil changes & tire rotations etc.
Put together vehicle maintenance records and documentation.
Help us to maintain our inventory (as required).
Order new car parts by phone and online (as required).
Mechanic Apprentice Requirements:
Current enrolment in NAIT Automotive Service Technician Apprenticeship Program (or similar). Second year or higher.
Valid driver’s license.
Strong time management skills.
Strong customer service skills.
Strong computer skills.
A desire to develop the skills that a mechanic needs to possess.
High proficiency in use of basic hand tools.
Familiarity with simple automotive tasks, techniques, and products and second year apprenticeship level or higher.
Physically able to lift heavy objects.

Proof or Enrollment in NAIT Automotive Apprenticeship Program (letter from registrar’s office or equivalent).
